“Devil’s Gonna Get Ya” Out Now from Red Clay Revival

Red Clay Revival frontman Douglas McElvy Jr. returns with a powerful new single, “Devil’s Gonna Get Ya,” available on streaming platforms October 31 and already out for airplay — just in time for Halloween and beyond.Poignant and intense, the accompanying music video follows a man (played by McElvy) in a spiral of self-destruction — a trigger warning applies for scenes involving addiction, mental health struggles, and a firearm. Inspired by a real sign on Interstate 65 near Montgomery, Alabama — “Go to church or the devil’s gonna get you” — McElvy’s lyrics reflect the fire-and-brimstone culture ingrained in parts of the Southeast: “65 out of Montgomery, headed to the ham, get a little funny. Big white sign, red letters said. Go to church or the devil’s gonna get you.” McElvy explains, “I and so many others from that area grew up seeing that sign, and it holds a space in many people’s minds. The video hits close to home for a lot of people from the area and for others that have just passed through.”McElvy has performed “Devil’s Gonna Get Ya” with Red Clay Revival since the early 2000s. Along with vocals, he contributes synth and rhythm guitar. The track is co-produced by McElvy, drummer Jacob Baumann, and longtime collaborator Josh Phillips. Additional musicians include Daniel Iannucci (bass), Drew Matulich (electric guitar), Billy Cardine (steel guitar), Simon George (piano/organ), and Shaun Nicklin (banjo). It was engineered and mixed by Julian Dreyer and mastered by Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering. Filming and editing were handled by Samuel Treadwell in Montgomery, Alabama — based on a concept developed by McElvy.

About Douglas McElvy Jr. and Red Clay Revival

McElvy founded **Red Clay Revival** in the soul-rich countryside of Alabama before relocating to the Blue Ridge Mountains, where the band’s gritty, roots-driven sound matured into a dynamic fusion of slam-grass, bluegrass breaks, and rock-leaning grooves. Their high-energy shows draw in audiences across genres.

Flatpicking legend Larry Keel and bassist Jenny Keel say: “I love this band! These musicians carve an irresistible groove that always gets the party started… It’s earthy and fun music with dark overtones too.”

Born in Tuscaloosa, McElvy began violin and piano at six years old, later performing in church and high-school bands. He’s shared stages with Colonel Bruce Hampton, Donna Hopkins, Vince Herman, and many more. A pivotal moment came when he opened for Tony Rice and Larry Keel at the Bama Theatre in 2009 — the spark that led to Red Clay Revival’s formation.

The band’s catalog includes:
– Barefoot (2012), produced by Billy Cardine, featuring Keller Williams, Larry Keel & Tim Carbone
– Chilly EP (2014) with Casey Driessen & Jeff Sipe
– Singles “Gold” (2021) and “She’s Hot” (2023)
