Los Angeles folk & roots outfit Diane Hubka & The Sun Canyon Band will release their sophomore album Moon Over Larrabee (PRE-ORDER: Bandcamp – Apple) on October 22, 2025. Inspired by the moonlit streets of West Hollywood where the band first came together—near the site of the original Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard—the record captures echoes of Laurel Canyon’s golden era while weaving in fresh folk, Americana, country, blues, swing, and rock & roll.
The 12-track collection features six original songs alongside spirited interpretations of traditional and classic material, including two cuts with guitar legend Albert Lee (Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton, The Everly Brothers), one of them on mandolin. Highlights include the uplifting opener “Sun Canyon” (the band’s theme song), the title track “Moon Over Larrabee,” and standout collaborations like “If I Could Only Win Your Love” and “Ordinary Madness.”
Fronted by acclaimed jazz vocalist-turned-folk artist Diane Hubka and veteran guitarist/songwriter Rick Mayock, the band also features Joe Caccavo (bass, guitar, vocals) and Irv “Skeeter G” Gershenz (drums, vocals). Together, they bring Hubka’s Appalachian folk roots and Mayock’s rock & blues background into a sound that feels timeless yet vibrant.
“The Sun Canyon Band needed a theme song,” says Mayock. “‘Sun Canyon’ is about finding light in the shadows—an invitation to leave your loneliness behind and dance with us in a good-time state of mind.”
