Dizgo Releases New Album ‘Innerstate,’ Produced by Vance Powell

October 9, 2026 — Bloomington, Indiana-based jam quartet Dizgo has released its new album, Innerstate, today.

Produced by GRAMMY Award winner Vance Powell at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, Innerstate marks the band’s most expansive studio effort to date. Across the album, Dizgo explores movement, self-discovery, transformation, and interconnectedness, using highways and internal pathways as parallel metaphors for the ways people move through the world and through their own lives.

The idea behind Innerstate connects the physical interstate with the mental “inner state,” suggesting that while people may experience themselves as individuals traveling separate roads, those paths remain part of larger shared systems.

Powell’s production allowed the band to retain the spontaneity and interplay at the center of its live sound while giving the songs room to develop naturally in the studio.

“Working with a producer was a little different than I expected,” says Dizgo’s Jake Evatt. “I thought Vance was going to show us all these secrets to making an amazing record, but really he gave us the freedom to do whatever we wanted and just helped guide us along the way.”

Evatt says Powell’s approach helped the band avoid overthinking the sessions, even while working with instruments and equipment ranging from a grand piano used on “Grand Ol’ Time” to the Korg Polysix heard in the introduction to “Intuition.”

For guitarist and vocalist Andrew Pickel, the sessions also represented the culmination of years spent traveling and building the band.

“During our second week of tracking the album at Sputnik, I remember walking in to meet Vance in the control room, and feeling like I had fallen into a moment that I had always known I would and should be in,” Pickel says. “Vance said ‘welcome home.’ All the miles of our journey had brought us to that moment in that studio with him.”

Dizgo began with attic jam sessions between childhood friends Pickel and bassist/vocalist Kevin Hinnefeld, later expanding with Evatt on keys and vocals and Justin Clark on drums.

The quartet has since developed a sound drawing from jamtronica, funk, soul, psychedelic rock, and improvisational music, while building a touring history that includes appearances at Jam Cruise, Summer Camp, Secret Dreams, Domefest, and High Sierra.

The band has also shared bills with artists including Goose, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, lespecial, and Dogs In A Pile.

Innerstate follows the 2026 singles “Exit 59,” “Intuition,” and “Grand Ol’ Time.”

The album arrives as Dizgo continues an extensive fall tour. The band celebrates the release tonight, October 9, at Asheville Music Hall in Asheville, North Carolina, with Jacoozy.
