Charleston, SC based synthwave sextet Doom Flamingo kicks off the summer with a new single and music video, “Happy Boi.” The track, an undeniable ear worm, explodes with immediate energy, placing buoyant synths atop affably dissonant guitar and bass. Soaring vocals from vanguard front woman Kanika Moore confidently emerge, employing tasteful falsetto on the caustic refrain, “Wish you’d just move!” “Happy Boi” was recorded and mixed by Matt Zutell (Hootie and the Blowfish, Little Stranger) at Coast Records.

“Happy Boi is written for adults still content in their youth,” explained Kanika Moore (vocals).

A cheeky video, directed by longtime collaborator Paul Chelmis, accompanies the single. Bassist Ryan Stasik’s acting chops are on full display, as he embodies the authentic “Happy Boi” attitude - a smiling villain enjoying a day at the arcade. Shot in the Doom Flamingo’s hometown, the visual features cameos from the band, as well as endearing appearances from the artists’ children and relatives.

“Happy Boi” is the band’s second release of 2022, a spellbinding companion piece to the recently released single and video “Lux Noir” (WATCH | LISTEN).
