There are some bands that don’t simply play the music of the Grateful Dead—they step into that wide-open river of improvisation, harmony, and risk, letting each night find its own path. Easy Jim, hailing from the mountains of Gunnison and Crested Butte, Colorado, brings that spirit to the Fox Theatre in Boulder on Friday, August 14, 2026, with Shakedown Strings.
Doors open at 7:00 pm, and the show begins at 8:00 pm. General admission seated tickets and reserved seated tickets are on sale now here. The show is all ages, with those under 16 admitted with an adult.
“Settle back, easy Jim…” The iconic lyric from Robert Hunter’s “Althea” captured the spirit of the band when it first formed in the fall of 2018. Easy Jim is a laid-back group of seasoned musicians bonded by a deep love for the music of the Grateful Dead.
This six-piece ensemble mirrors the Dead’s classic lineup—complete with two drummers and rich, four-part vocal harmonies. Known for their adventurous improvisation, tight musicianship, and electrifying energy, Easy Jim delivers a unique experience every time they take the stage.
