It may have been almost 50 degrees last Friday, January 9, 2026, in Port Chester, NY, but hell certainly froze over inside the Capitol Theatre as the co-bill of Eggy and Real Estate took the iconic stage. The unlikely pairing delivered a night that balanced dreamy indie textures with adventurous, jam-forward exploration, transforming the historic room into a space where restraint and risk comfortably coexisted.

Prior to the show, members of both bands took part in a podcast recording at Garcia’s, which is located within the Capitol Theatre. Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein and keyboardist Dani Battat joined the Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker for a candid discussion about life, music and more.

Real Estate brought that signature sun-dappled indie rock and jangle pop vibe to the Cap. Hailing from Ridgewood, New Jersey, the band has been crafting spacious, melodic guitar-driven songs since the late 2000s, blending dreamy textures with introspective lyricism. Their set acted as a mellow, contemplative prelude to Eggy’s more exploratory jam-centric performance, grounding the evening with tight ensemble playing, chiming guitar hooks, and laid-back grooves that perfectly suited the early evening crowd. Real Estate’s sound is like an aural stroll through hazy afternoons and coastal memories, and it set a thoughtful atmosphere that lingered even as the house lights dimmed before Eggy took over.

The mellow, indie tune “Parceled Serotonin” kicked off a set that was chock full of recent debuts. Drummer Alex Bailey contributed his vocals to “Reflections.” Battat added melodic undertones on the synth with piano effects. This song was part of their 2025 Halloween concept album, The Ballad of Blucifer, which centered around the tragic backstory of the famous blue mustang sculpture at the Denver International Airport. Ten new songs entered Eggy’s repertoire as a result at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO on October 31, 2025.

“Oh What a World,” by Grammy Award winner Kacey Musgraves, followed. The band dove into “Peace Upon Us” with the first deep jam of the night. Brownstein was so fired up that he started jumping in place, as Battat added clever accents.

“The Gentle Clown” followed, along with some nice banter from Battat and Brownstein. The band was certainly excited to be on this well-known stage.

A short but sweet “Agatha,” another new Blucifer tune, continued the euphonious flow that was established early in the set. A well-executed segue delivered this Constitution State quartet into the vintage “Bloomlight.” Battat and Bailey contributed vocals. A raging eleven-minute jam ensued, with Bailey pushing the beats. Brownstein guided the music into “Laurel.” Bassist Mike Goodman elevated the funk as Battat layered in the trance via keyboard. Lighting director Mike Jaws added well-placed lighting transitions. This seventeen-minute heater is certainly worth a relisten, as it took a turn into a synth-driven, electronic-inspired masterpiece.

The upbeat “Falsities and Fire” completed the Blucifer trifecta. Another magical transition flowed into an electric “Beaming,” which brought more upbeat, layered jamming that sent fans into the stratosphere. Bailey pushed the beats to new heights as Battat unleashed the synth, ending the set on a high note.

The band returned to the stage, and Battat shared his New Year’s resolution to meditate for five minutes per day. The band then led the crowd through taking a deep breath, followed by a lighthearted comedic attempt.

The band began the encore with “What I Know.” They took a moment to acknowledge the importance and coolness of birthdays, while also wishing Tim a happy birthday. They finished the show by dropping more tasty heat with the fourth and final Blucifer tune, “Voice of Them All.”

Eggy is back in action on January 16-17 at the Treehouse Brewery in Deerfield, MA for a tasty two night stand, where fans can enjoy their world-renowned beers. They will make international appearances at Panic en la Playa (January 20-24) and Jam Cruise 22 (February 7-12). In March, the band will embark on a Midwest run starting on March 4 in Cleveland, Ohio. Dates in Detroit, MI, Madison, WI, Whitestown, IN, and Lexington, KY immediately follow. The foursome will then head south for a number of shows, including Memphis, TN, Jackson, MS, Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.
