Genre-Blurring Indie Band Banshee Tree Announce Sophomore Album ‘Bad Luck’

Celebrated Denver, CO independent band Banshee Tree announces the April 17th release of their long-awaited sophomore album, Bad Luck (Banshee Tree Records). Bad Luck is an eclectic collection featuring eight songs that blur any boundaries that lie between indie rock, jazz, roots and psychedelic pop, with an accessible touch of the avant-garde. The album is a bold and expansive statement from a band that has spent nearly a decade forging their signature style through live performances and experimentation. Bad Luck represents a fully realized work from Banshee Tree.

Their new single “Bright Blue Light” is a reflective and optimistic song about trying to find meaning through chaos, temptation and chance while drifting between darkness and illumination. The bright blue light is a symbol of hope, grace and the need for the connections the narrator is driven to find. Listen to “Bright Blue Light” HERE.

The scope of Bad Luck ranges from immersive and melodic soundscapes (“Company Of Crows” & “Stellar Jay Theme”) to contemplative mid-tempo songs (“Look High Over The Mountains”) to rootsy Americana (“Glue,” featuring  Andy Thorn of Leftover Salmon) to dreamlike alt-folk (“Might Stay”) to propulsive, experimental arrangements (“Stars Above The Lightning”). Lyrically and thematically, Bad Luck explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, tracing moments of tension, beauty, and even warning. Throughout the album, there is a recurring sense of choice and transformation, examining how moments that feel ominous or uncertain can become gateways to growth.

Banshee Tree is Thom LaFond (lead vocals/guitar), Michelle Pietrafitta (drums/vocals), Jesse Shantor (keyboards/saxophone) and Jason Bertone (bass).

With Bad Luck, Banshee Tree solidify their reputation as genre-defying songwriters, arrangers and fearless collaborators. The album stands as a document of a band willing to embrace change, lean into uncertainty, and find beauty in transition.
