The Rex Foundation will host its annual benefit on December 5, 2026, at San Francisco’s historic The Fillmore. Love Will See You Through, an evening headlined by Grahame Lesh and Friends, continues the foundation's decades-long tradition of bringing the Grateful Dead community together through music and charitable giving.
Founded in 1983 by members of the Grateful Dead, the Rex Foundation has spent over four decades supporting grassroots nonprofit organizations and community initiatives. This year’s benefit continues that legacy, bringing together music and community in support of Rex’s ongoing work.
Executive Director Cameron Sears shares his reflections on this year's gathering:
“Greetings, Friends of Rex,
We're beyond excited to announce the return of the annual Rex Foundation Benefit on December 5, 2026, at The Fillmore in San Francisco. This year’s gathering, Love Will See You Through, will feature a two-set performance by Grahame Lesh and Friends.
This is a full-circle moment, as Grahame lends his support to Rex in the same way his dad, a founder of Rex, did so many times. The friends Grahame has assembled have a long history of playing together and have formed the nucleus of many of the great bands that performed at Terrapin Crossroads, most notably Phil Lesh & Friends.
If you were fortunate to attend shows at Terrapin Crossroads, the names will be very familiar: John Molo on drums, Holly Bowling on keyboards, Stu Allen on vocals and guitar, Barry Sless on guitar, Elliott Peck on vocals, and none other than Grahame on vocals, playing one of his dad’s bass guitars. This band is a supergroup, and we can’t wait to hear them rock the house Bill built!
Love Will See You Through will begin with a pre-show reception featuring excellent bites, along with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options. We will also host a silent auction featuring rare, curated pieces from our archive.
This year has been remarkable for Rex in important ways. We have felt deep loss, yet we have found strength in our mission, the music we love, and the community we are a part of.
One of our strongest sources of support has been the outpouring of musicians and friends who wanted to help keep Rex vibrant and a force for good. We have received donations from many new friends. Many bands and musicians have held benefits, from shows that donate a dollar per ticket to Rex, to the show we held at the Greek Theatre this past August with Dark Star Orchestra.
The Rex community does all of this with a sense of love and positivity that is empowering and enduring. Our community also continues to grow through the new grantees we meet each year, and we celebrate them and their work.
We encourage you to visit www.rexfoundation.org to learn about the incredible groups we all help support.
We look forward to seeing you at The Fillmore in December, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!”
