Singer-songwriter, Grant Livingston, is thrilled to announce the release of his debut album, Grant & Friends, available everywhere on June 4, 2021. Grant & Friends is a collection of heartfelt original songs that showcase Livingston’s timeless, yet innovative blend of folk, rock, funk, soul, and bluegrass music. With it’s tasteful melodies, thoughtfully layered instrumentation, and substantive lyricism, Livingston’s debut album is an immersive musical journey that flows through reflections of love, loss, acceptance, and adventure. Grant & Friends is spacious, spare, patient, deliciously discordant, builds strong crescendos, and is generally fun. The release of Livingston’s debut album will be paired with a relocation to Colorado, where Livingston intends to establish the next chapter of his musical journey.

Grant & Friends was tracked in the summer of 2020 at Prairie Sun Recording Studios, an infamous converted chicken ranch studio in Cotati, California. The eclectic cast of musicians gathered on the prairie and spent five days living on the property and recording the main tracks. “The experience of creating this album was a total joy. A week of sunshine, friendship, food, and music… not much more I could ask for,”  says Livingston.

Grant & Friends is a “coming of age” piece, born from the culmination of life-molding friendships and experiences in the Western United States. Until the spring of 2020, Livingston was gigging extensively throughout California with his Bay-Area based Americana jam band, The Fixins. The Fixins, formed in 2018, began to attract a local scene in the San Francisco Bay Area and before too long the boot-stompin’ folk groovers became a local staple, playing countless house parties, cave shows, bars, and holding residencies at various well-established Bay Area night clubs. After three years with the band (with the exception of summers, when Livingston would retreat to a remote part of Alaska to focus on songwriting), Livingston set off to pursue the goal of recording his own debut album, Grant & Friends. Grant & Friends features members of The Fixins along with musicians and friends from various other projects, including Late for the Train, Kevin Sgarro, Imaginary Hobbes, Khanzadeh, Flor De Lua, and more.

The release of Livingston’s debut album will be followed by a series of shows in Colorado and California in the summer of 2021.
