HAMISH ANDERSON DROPS NEW SINGLE “TEA & SYMPATHY”

As he releases his new single “Tea & Sympathy,” Australian “singer, songwriter and guitar hero” (-Billboard) Hamish Anderson announces he’s joining GEORGE THOROGOOD & THE DESTROYERS’ in support of their 2022 Good To Be Bad Tour: 45 Years Of Rock Tour!

This marks the first tour Hamish has done since 2019’s tour in support of Gary Clark Jr and he’s ready to get back on the road and perform live on eleven dates with the “Bad to the Bone'' legend, George Thorogood.

“Tea & Sympathy” joins his previous two singles (“Everything Starts Again” and “Morning Light”) marking significant firsts in Hamish’s career - co-producing with David Davis (Miguel, The War on Drugs, Lauren Ruth Ward), and recording remotely in a pandemic.

Influenced by 60’s British Invasion rock & roll, “Tea & Sympathy” starts out as a stripped back acoustic guitar and drum groove and ends up somewhere completely different. Combining soul and blues as if it was put through a kaleidoscope, Hamish’s new single with its warning about forgiveness being too late, is hypnotic. In experimenting with the arrangements, he presents a song full of psychedelic tinged roots rock with fuzzed out elastic bass and a Tom-Tom drum explosion. Hamish explains further:

Recording ‘Tea & Sympathy’ felt very freeing because I felt like the rule book had been thrown out and I followed the muse that took me to this psychedelic hypnotic place, it felt like making an abstract painting. I was listening to Paul McCartney’s masterpiece album “RAM” a lot whilst writing it, as well as The Raconteurs and Harry Nilsson so those types of influences were rattling around my head. Thrilled to have this song out in the world today!”

“Tea & Sympathy” showcases another side of Hamish while continuing his love letter to the electric guitar which underscores again the prowess of an artist that All Things Go aptly states “clearly knows the path from nostalgia to the future.”
