The High Hawks, an all-star cast of musical friends from Leftover Salmon, Railroad Earth, Hard Working Americans, and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, have premiered a new video for their single "Somewhere South" today at Live For Live Music; it's a timely track that finds the band fantasizing about escaping the snow and bitter cold for sun and fun on a tropical beach. The single, the second from their sophomore release Mother Nature's Show, out February 16 on LoHi Records, will be available this Friday, January 12 on all streaming services HERE. In addition, the High Hawks are adding to their Midwest and Greensky Bluegrass dates with a West Coast tour this May; tickets will go on sale this Friday, January 12 HERE.

The High Hawks features Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), Chad Staehly (Great American Taxi), Adam Greuel (Horseshoes & Hand Grenades), Brian Adams (DeadPhish Orchestra), and Will Trask (Great American Taxi), all bring decades of recording and touring history to the project which they recorded during a snowy January at Minnesota's famed Pachyderm Studios. The song sequence — a musical travelogue — takes the listener down Highway 61, the oft-called “Blues Highway” immortalized by Bob Dylan, that follows the Mississippi River from Minnesota to New Orleans, passing through St. Louis, Memphis and the Mississippi delta.

The video for "Somewhere South" was shot by Tim Carbone and finds Herman shoveling snow up in Girdwood, AK (shot when the band was playing the Alyeska Resort late last year) as he dreams of a tropical getaway, cutting to footage of Herman and Carbone enjoying beach life down in Puerto Morales, Mexico where they played the Strings & Sol Festival.

The song's co-writer, Herman, shares: "Somewhere South’ was captured by Aaron Ratiere, Ben Chapman, and I sitting on a Nashville porch on a fine summer day. Thinking about beaches and escaping that high country cold when you need to. Who can argue with that?!?”

The rest of of the songs on Mother Nature's show represent a variety of musical stylings — from Southern, country and psychedelic rock to honky-tonk and even a ballad and a waltz — with The High Hawks’ sonic cohesiveness claiming each style as their own.

Pre-order CD/vinyl editions of the album via the LoHi store — all physical pre-orders (CD/vinyl) will be automatically entered for a chance to win win an Epiphone acoustic guitar autographed by the band:
