The new project of late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob Nowell, Jakobs Castle proudly announces the group’s 2023 national tour in support of its new single “Time Traveler,” out now via Epitaph Records. Jakobs Castle will travel to 36 cities in 21 states as direct support for some of Jakob Nowell’s most revered artists: Long Beach Dub Allstars, Steel Pulse and Common Kings. Active since 2022, the group connects the insouciant sounds of California’s past with the fresh mystery of internet underground culture – nostalgic 90s underground meets new-age pop. The nationwide tour kicks off with two August performances supporting Long Beach Dub Allstars in California before Jakobs Castle teams up on cross-country dates with Steel Pulse and Common Kings starting in September – supporting 10 shows headlined by both groups, and another 20+ dates on Common Kings’s Celebration Tour. Standout dates include Aug. 12 at the Music Box in San Diego with Long Beach Dub Allstars; Sept. 21 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver with both Steel Pulse and Common Kings; Brooklyn Bowl dates with Common Kings in New York Oct. 4 and Philadelphia Oct. 8; and the Music Farm Oct. 15 in Charleston, SC with Common Kings. Jakobs Castle will also make a few solo radio stops along the way – Aug. 19 with Alt 101.5FM in Indio, CA and Oct. 28 with Modern Rock 98.7FM in Sneads Ferry, NC. Jakobs Castle consists of vocalist/frontman Jakob Nowell (formerly of LAW), guitarist Eric Walsh (formerly of Authority Zero), and drummer Chris Bartholomew (formerly of As Blood Runs Black). The group previously toured the country with emerging young artists such as Sitting on Stacy, as well as legacy musicians like Jason Devore and Slightly Stoopid.
Following a standout performance at the 2023 BeachLife Festival, Jakobs Castle signed with Epitaph Records in June 2023 and released “Time Traveler,” its first single under the label, July 10. Co-written by Tim Armstrong (Rancid, Operation Ivy), the breezy song employs bright guitars, electronic flourishes and vocals that illustrate Jakob Nowell’s impressive range.
Jakobs Castle plans to release more music with Epitaph Records in the coming months.
