Fiddle titans Jason Carter and Michael Cleveland announce the release of “Same Old Town” featuring Dudley Connell, a standout recording from the celebrated sessions behind their acclaimed collaborative album, Carter & Cleveland. This remarkable performance now steps into the spotlight alongside the previous single, “Let’s Sing Our Song,” as a bonus track, offering fans another glimpse into the extraordinary music captured during the historic Nashville sessions.
The release follows an exceptional year for Carter & Cleveland, which earned Album of the Year at the 2025 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards and received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Bluegrass Album. The project's standout track, “Outrun the Rain,” featuring Vince Gill and Jaelee Roberts, also took home the IBMA Song and Collaborative Recording of the Year honor.
“We had a blast making this album and when selecting songs for the project, we found ourselves with a real dilemma as to which ones to put on the record,” says Cleveland. “We knew we would be printing vinyl which limits the number of songs or time of the recording. So, a handful of songs had to be eliminated from the final recording.”
“I think we always knew we’d release the remaining songs at some point,” added Carter. “Sharing them as ‘session singles’ makes sense. They’re just too good to not share with the world, especially with special guests such as Dudley and the incredible musicians we had in the studio.”
“Same Old Town” brings together Carter’s deep, commanding baritone lead vocal and Connell’s unmistakable voice, framed by the thrilling interplay of Carter and Cleveland’s twin fiddles. Written by Eddie Miller and Skeets McDonald, the song receives a performance rooted in classic country and bluegrass tradition, elevated by an all-star ensemble of some of the genre’s most accomplished musicians.
