Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joe Walsh opened the vault on more than five decades of music history this week, auctioning over 700 personal items from his legendary career during Life’s Been Good: Joe Walsh, a landmark event hosted by Julien’s Auctions on December 16–17 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood and online worldwide.
The first-ever auction curated directly with Walsh drew bidders from more than 22 countries, offering fans and collectors an unprecedented opportunity to own guitars, instruments, vehicles, stage wardrobe, recording gear, and rare rock-and-roll ephemera spanning Walsh’s 50-year journey through the James Gang, Barnstorm, his solo career, and the Eagles.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit VetsAid, the 501(c)(3) veterans charity founded by Walsh, which has distributed more than $4 million in grants since 2017 to organizations supporting veterans and their families.
The auction delivered a string of headline-making results, with numerous lots shattering pre-sale estimates by wide margins. Among the most notable sales:

“Life’s been good for Joe Walsh, whose music has shaped decades of rock history,” said Martin Nolan, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions. “This historic auction was a true celebration of that incredible journey. Julien’s is honored to have worked with Joe, who wished to share pieces of his story with fans and collectors while supporting the important work of VetsAid.”
Founded by Walsh in 2017, VetsAid has become one of the music community’s most impactful veteran-focused charities. The organization hosts annual benefit concerts and funds national and regional nonprofits providing mental health services, housing support, employment assistance, and family resources for veterans.
Walsh, a Gold Star son, has long made veterans’ wellbeing central to his philanthropic mission. His father, a U.S. Army flight instructor, died on active duty when Walsh was just 20 months old — a loss that continues to inform his advocacy today.
A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Kennedy Center Honoree, and multi-GRAMMY Award winner, Joe Walsh has left an indelible mark on American music with classics including “Life’s Been Good,” “Rocky Mountain Way,” “Funk #49,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” and “In the City.”
After rising to fame with the James Gang, Walsh formed Barnstorm, launched a groundbreaking solo career, and joined the Eagles in 1975 — helping propel the band to become the highest-selling American group of all time, with more than 150 million records sold. The Eagles’ current Sphere residency in Las Vegas continues to draw unanimous critical acclaim.
Beyond the stage, Walsh remains an active collaborator, producer, and advocate for addiction recovery, the arts, and veterans’ causes.
