Born on the outskirts of Muscle Shoals, Alabama — the legendary recording mecca that birthed some of American music's most soulful moments — Jordan Fairless has music woven into his DNA. Nashville shaped his ear for rock, blues, and country; Florida's dance culture instilled deep rhythmic groove. He spent fifteen years in the Arizona desert as co-founder of Spafford before settling in Woodstock, New York, where he's stepping into an entirely new chapter with Big Deep.
A multi-instrumentalist who began on violin and later fell in love with the bass, Fairless is known for weaving intricate melodic lines, soulful rhythms, and vibrant groove — a rare alchemy that defines the best improvisational players. As Spafford's bassist, co-vocalist, and co-founder from 2009 through 2024, he helped steer the band from Prescott open mics to festival headlining stages, sharing bills with Umphrey's McGee, The String Cheese Incident, Greensky Bluegrass, and many others. His contributions to Spafford include fan favorites like "All In," "Backdoor Funk," and "Leave the Light On".
With Big Deep, Fairless channels that same restless creative fire into something entirely his own — the same experimental dance-party energy that's driven him on stage for decades, but now fully on his terms. His north star remains unchanged: go somewhere he's never been before. Big Deep is that journey.
