What starts as a simple surf trip turns into a pastoral meditation on the passage of time and the value of work, as we’re taken into the dreamtime of a cowboy in Central America. The album culminates in the killing of a mythical bull and the parade that follows. On Halcyon Days, Kevin Farge's second full-length LP for Very Jazzed, Farge sounds a bit like Paul Simon or Leonard Cohen in his devotion to soft pet sounds, Moondog on the melodica, and the wide-eyed tropicália of Os Mutantes. Halcyon Days was mastered by Paul Oldham.

Kevin Farge is a songwriter and visual artist who was born in Houston, Texas, and moved to his stepmother’s native Costa Rica at age eight, where he learned to speak Spanish and surf. The family eventually settled down back in Houston. Farge has spent the past several years living in the same small beach town in Costa Rica that he visited as a child.
