A powerful cultural celebration crosses the Atlantic this summer as Diaspora Calling! makes its long-awaited UK debut. Set for Friday, August 7, 2026 at Milton Keynes National Bowl, the landmark event brings together music, heritage, and community under one expansive open sky—led by a rare headline performance from Ms. Lauryn Hill, currently her only confirmed UK appearance of the year.
Joining Hill for this inaugural edition are fellow Fugees co-founder Wyclef Jean alongside rising voices YG Marley and Zion Marley, with additional artists across two stages still to be announced. Tickets go on sale March 31 at 9AM via diaspora-calling.co.uk.
Originally launched in 2016 by Ms. Lauryn Hill, Diaspora Calling! began as a multidisciplinary celebration of African diaspora culture, combining visual art and live performance at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre. The concept quickly evolved into a touring platform featuring artists such as Nas, Kehlani, Noname, and Little Simz, all united by themes of cultural identity, resilience, and global connection.
Hill, a GRAMMY Award-winning singer, rapper, and songwriter, remains one of the most influential voices in modern music. Rising to prominence with the Fugees before releasing her landmark solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, she has shaped generations with her genre-defying sound and deeply introspective lyricism.
Wyclef Jean brings his own globally infused blend of hip-hop, soul, and Caribbean rhythms, while YG Marley and Zion Marley carry forward a powerful musical lineage rooted in reggae, consciousness, and evolution—each carving out their own space in a new era of diaspora expression.
The choice of Milton Keynes National Bowl—a premier destination for large-scale outdoor events—underscores the scope and ambition of the festival’s UK debut. Alongside the music, attendees can expect a full food village and immersive cultural atmosphere that reflects the richness and diversity of the diaspora experience.
As Diaspora Calling! expands its reach, the 2026 UK edition stands as both a celebration and a statement—honoring the past, amplifying the present, and building bridges across continents through music and shared history.
