“After eight years of high highs, low lows, lineup changes, births, deaths, love, heartbreak, and a global pandemic, we’re ready to share our debut album with the world,” write the members of Magnolia Boulevard in a statement on their upcoming self-titled debut release. “These songs mean so much to us because they are us. They’re born from real-life experiences of struggle and growth, and they provide a window into our hearts, revealing the angels and demons that reside.” And for a band that has patiently adapted and evolved on the path to their full-length debut—all while honing their razor-sharp live set on the road—be certain that they mean what they’re saying, and they live what they’re playing.
After releasing a string of album singles and a couple of standalone singles—“Sparkle & Fall” with Matt Duncan and “Runnin’” with Of Good Nature—the intentional eight-song LP will be released on November 28th. A blues-heavy rock and soul sound fronted by vocal powerhouse Maggie Noelle is still the brand of Magnolia Boulevard that loyal fans know and love, but this era of the band has a more personal touch, something deeper than just the music. “We hope that listeners will see themselves within the characters of these stories and be comforted in knowing that they aren’t alone,” says the band. Slide guitar and self-reflection: a complete package from a band who’ve collectively endured the highs and lows, too. “All I can hope is that folks can relate to each song in their own way and can feel every ounce of love that we put into them,” says Noelle.
In addition to today’s news, Magnolia Boulevard have also just announced a very special hometown show at The Burl in Lexington, Kentucky, on release day, November 28th, which is also their 2nd Annual Friendsgiving show. For a band that’s been around the country, physically, and through every peak and valley, personally, this homecoming completes a lengthy and lovely circle in the process of making and delivering their new music to fans. Tickets are on sale now at this link.
