Seacoast, NH-based supergroup Marble Eyes will release their second single “You Can’t Fool Me” on September 23rd. Formed out of the pandemic, the group is comprised of nationally touring artists Eric Gould (Pink Talking Fish), Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu), Mike Carter (The Indobox), and Max Chase (Amulus). As the group continues to embark on an extensive Northeast tour, they will release their debut record Return to The Roses on Thursday, October 21st via the independent record label Color Red, founded by Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds.

Written by Max Chase, “You Can’t Fool Me” is a spirited pop-soul track with lyrics that speak of a relationship in limbo and being taken for granted and in the throes of another’s toxic habits. The song has a 70’s funky soul vibe reminiscent of flagship acts of the era like Steely Dan and Atlanta Rhythm Section.

“‘You Can't Fool Me' has found new life in Marble Eyes and features an all new guitar and bass melody during each chorus. I've spent a lot of time in bands over the years and really appreciate how this tune came out with the collaboration of the full band,” says Chase of the track’s final outcome. “This is a song about trust in a relationship and these folks aren't doing too well in that department it seems...but who's really fooling who?”

Currently, the band is touring in support of the upcoming record Return to the Roses, an album that encapsulates the unique moment and special time of making the most of an era that brought the music industry at large to a halt. Recently, they’ve appeared at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY; The River House Restaurant Concert Series at Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH, Adirondack Independence Music Festival in Lake George, NY; and Nectar’s in Burlington, VT.

The band’s next live performance falls on the eve of the album release, October 21st in their hometown region at The Stone Church Music Club in Newmarket, NH, followed by a headlining performance at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY on October 27th.
