The vibrant music scene of Minnesota is coming together to celebrate the life and legacy of the late musician and songwriter Max Graham with the release of In My Mind a tribute album comprised of artist interpretations of the musician’s songs. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, all proceeds from the album will benefit the Great Lakes Association of Musicians and Artists (GLAMA), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the well-being of artists in the region that was established in Max’s memory.
The album features heartfelt contributions from acclaimed Minnesota bands Trampled by Turtles, Pert Near Sandstone, Barbaro, Kitchen Dwellers, Them Coulee Boys, and The Last Revel, alongside other talented regional musicians who were touched by Max’s music and spirit. The collection of songs offers a diverse range of interpretations, reflecting the impact Max had on the community.
“Max was a shining light in our music scene – a gifted musician and a kind soul,” says Chris Forsberg, the album’s executive producer. “This album is a testament to the love and respect he garnered from his peers. We hope it honors his memory and raises crucial awareness and support for mental health within the artistic community.”
Hannah Graham, Founder of GLAMA, shares, “Max was a passionate and complex person whose music left a deep impact on those around him. Max cared so deeply for his music community and it’s powerful to see his songs reimagined by this incredible group of artists. The proceeds from this album will allow GLAMA to expand our resources and provide vital mental health support to musicians and artists.”
A limited vinyl run of the In My Mind album will be available for pre-sale orders starting Friday, May 23 through the GLAMA website. Pre-sale orders coincide with the release of the first single, “I Need You to Know” by Barbaro, through Spotify and Apple Music. About Max Graham
Max Graham is a Minneapolis-based musician whose fierce passion for music and community was magnetic. As the lead singer and mandolinist of Kind Country, he brought irrepressible energy to stages across the country, helping shape a vibrant bluegrass scene. His musical reach extended across genres through projects like the Burbillies, Max Graham & the Fam, and collaborations with groups such as Barbaro and the Kitchen Dwellers. More than a performer, Max was a connector — a generous spirit who made every jam session feel like home. Max’s legacy lives on through his 3 children, and the music, love, and community he so fiercely championed.
