MYND READER’s self-titled debut album, set for release January 30, 2026, is a ten-track journey concept record about survival, redemption, and the restorative power of music. It invites listeners into the world of MYND READER, a band forged from loss, reflection, reawakening, and renewal told through the band’s kaleidoscope of blues soaked vocals, atmospheric guitar landscapes, and soul pounding rhythms.
The band’s single “Home” has already earned spins on more than 20 iHeartRadio stations after being featured by Ted Stryker on his nationally syndicated “Out Of Order” show, while “Mourning Light” has climbed into the Mediabase Triple A Top 100. Mixed by seven-time GRAMMY® winner Michael Brauer, whose credits include Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, My Morning Jacket, Aretha Franklin, and Ray LaMontagne, the album lands with warmth, grit, and emotional punch. Brauer’s analog approach gives the record a cinematic depth, making quiet moments feel more intimate and explosive passages truly erupt with energy. “When I first heard MYND READER, it took me back to Paul Rodgers and Bad Company, that pure, unfiltered rock energy,” Brauer says. “I wanted big guitars, dry vocals, and drums with that worn, retro soul.”
The band is comprised of Shelby Kemp on vocals and guitar, multi-instrumentalist and producer Tonin, and Brian Sachs on percussion, a veteran whose history includes drumming for The Authority, the Bill Graham-managed NYC jam outfit that defined the ’90s Manhattan scene. Sachs describes MYND READER as the grown version of that earlier fire, shaped by reflection and soul-searching. The band’s genesis came when Sachs and Tonin reunited, transforming personal revelations and notebooks of lyrics into immersive sonic blueprints, and Kemp’s powerhouse Southern blues voice gave the songs flesh and heartbeat. The collaboration results in music that is instinct-driven, emotionally raw, and profoundly human.
The album’s centerpiece, “Home,” stands as a soaring ode to belonging and love. Kemp explains, “This one’s about the place you belong whether it is a person, a town, or a song. For us, it is rock and roll. It’s home.” Other tracks such as “Radio Warning,” inspired by Sachs’ solo treks through the Alaskan backcountry, “Simply Avanti,” a testament to perseverance and love, and “Leaving Our Lives,” which unfurls in a golden-era rock atmosphere, highlight the album’s cinematic and spiritual depth. Songs like “Oslo,” “Falling Down,” and “Think About It” expand the record into cinematic terrain with psalms in motion that reflect themes of grief, devotion, and rebirth. Their latest single, “Birdsong,” and accompanying video–a cinematic rock journey from pain to resurgence, filmed in Mexico’s surreal sand dunes by acclaimed director VINSINT–dropped on Oct. 31, 2025.
With hundreds of thousands of streams over the past six months, MYND READER has built a dedicated fan base and earned critical acclaim. Rooted in soulful rock, atmospheric guitars, and pounding rhythms, the band channels influences from My Morning Jacket, The Black Crowes, Chris Stapleton, Wilco, and Ray LaMontagne, yet remains distinctly their own. For MYND READER, music is a conduit for healing, connection, and rock and roll redemption.
