Colorado-based band Mynd Reader is excited to announce its newest single, “Leaving Our Lives.” Leaning into a timeless vintage-rock soundscape, the band has created an undeniable soul anthem. “Leaving Our Lives” is out now on Merchant Records LLC and is available everywhere you stream music.

Unfolding like an earthy-toned Polaroid come to life, “Leaving Our Lives” is warm, lived-in, and achingly resonant. It captures the dusty grandeur of ’70s soul-rock, built around a sun-drenched groove and smoky vocals. The single arrives just in time for summer, ready to soundtrack long drives, open skies, and reflective moments in motion. With this new music, Mynd Reader continues to carve out its lane with emotionally charged, no-skip songwriting and stadium-sized passion.

The song was mixed by Grammy Award winner Michael Brauer (Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, My Morning Jacket), who infuses it with analog warmth and undeniable pedigree. Mynd Reader features Shelby Kemp, whose soulful delivery carries the weight of lived experience; Brian Sachs, the co-writer and drummer who shapes the song with intention; and producer-co-writer Tonin, whose widescreen sonic vision powers the band’s evolving sound.

“Leaving Our Lives” arrives on the heels of Mynd Reader’s steady rise through the indie-rock and Americana ranks. Previous singles have gained traction on Triple-A and Americana radio, with “Radio Warning” currently at #24 on the Rock Chart and “Simply Avanti” climbing the Billboard Triple-A chart.

As Mynd Reader builds toward its full-length debut album and fall/winter tour, “Leaving Our Lives” stands as a bold declaration. This band isn’t just paying homage to rock’s past; it’s rewriting the next chapter.

About Mynd Reader

Leading the band are Tonin and Brian Sachs (formerly of The Authority). In the ’90s, Brian found success as drummer for the pioneering jam band The Authority, performing at iconic venues such as Nightingales and serving in the house band at the legendary Wetlands. He has shared stages with Phish, Blues Traveler, and Dave Matthews, grinding through more than 200 tour dates each year during the band’s seven-year stretch. After the tragic passing of The Authority’s manager, Bill Graham, the group parted ways, but Brian never stopped playing, drumming, and writing songs.

Magic struck again when Brian enlisted longtime friend and musician Tonin—the creative glue behind Mynd Reader. With a keen ear for melody and a talent for crafting rich soundscapes, Tonin brings a unique vision to Brian’s lyrics. His collaborative spirit fosters innovation, while his genre-blending production enhances the raw energy of Mynd Reader and shapes its powerful sound. Together, Tonin and Brian are unveiling a fresh voice rooted in the foundations of rock ’n’ roll.
