GRAMMY-winning soul/R&B powerhouse Nigel Hall showcases his chops with a brand new live version of the track “Wake Me”, off his acclaimed 2021 record Spiritual.  This rendition was recorded live at The Camel in Richmond, VA on November 27th, 2021, with an impressive Richmond-born backing band– featuring Devonne “DJ” Harrison, Marcus “Tennishu” Tenney, Corey Fonville, Andrew Randazzo & Morgan Burrs.  Hall, being from DC, exudes an elevated energy, matching that of the hometown crowd who packed out an oversold house.

Nigel states, “Having a live record has always been a dream of mine, and to have done it in my geographic source, with people who I love and enjoy very much, made it an extremely special experience that I’m thrilled to share with everyone.”

Throughout his career, he’s built a mighty foundation of funk, onstage and in the studio, proving himself to be a true student of the music. His unique sound, built upon pages torn out of the golden-ages of R&B, funk and soul, have made him the musician he is today; an accomplished vocalist, keyboardist, studio musician, and member of the GRAMMY-nominated funk-jazz-soul-hip-hop-psychedelic-jam-experimental titans Lettuce. Legions of fans are already well in the know about Hall’s copious keyboard chops and powerful vocal style.

The studio version of the song was recorded with a back-to-basics approach in Richmond, VA at the world famous Jellowstone Studios. Hall puts an emphasis on channeling the vibe and soul of his music, making himself a conduit of the unique style of  jazz-inflected old-school R&B and funk and flows out of him.
