Ivy Room Presents “Songs About Something: Old, New, Borrowed and Blue Tunes in the Round” on April 6th will feature host Paige Clem joined by Achilles Wheel Duo (Jonny Flores and Paul Kamm) and Nat Keefe, guitarist for Hot Buttered Rum.
The sixth event in this ongoing series, the April Songs About Something will feature the songwriting pair of Jonny Flores and Paul Kamm from Nevada City’s popular psychedelic rock/blues/bluegrass, Achilles Wheel—recent winner of Tahoe/Truckee KTKE’s Band of the Year Contest. Also appearing is Nat Keefe from the Bay Area’s own Hot Buttered Rum who will be appearing at The Great American Music Hall in May. Rounding out the lineup is Songs About Something creator, curator and host, Paige Clem, joined by “one-man-orchestra-pit” Jordan Feinstein of Jordan and the Ritual. Clem and all performers will also perform a 20-minute set of their own music after the in-the-round portion of the evening where the artists often accompany each other.

“These evenings have become really special” says Clem who had the idea to develop this uniquely-themed series after once hearing that a songwriter should always craft a musical set following the day-of-the-wedding bridal attire tradition of including something old, new, borrowed, and blue for good luck. Songs About Something performers and fans alike enjoy how the simple twist of the theme makes each evening unique. “I’ve had more than one artist tell me they finished a song that very day to include in their ‘new’ round, and we recently had someone play an intimate tune he’d written 20 years earlier but never shared from the stage as his ‘old’ song—he never thought it was a ‘stage’ song but people loved it!”
The series has been scheduled currently through June 1st and Clem’s guest include the following artists:
