Philly Music Fest is thrilled to announce that Dr. Dog will be the surprise headliner kicking off the ninth annual event for two nights October 13 and 14 at Ardmore Music Hall. Fresh off of their September performance at Citizens Bank Park, Dr. Dog will bring their unique blend of indie, psychedelic, folk, and rock, to a capacity of 1000 PMF concert go-ers (500 each night), culminating in an intimate and memorable concert experience for all. Tickets will be available for purchase to the public on Tuesday, September 23rd via Philly Music Fest and Ardmore Music Hall’s official websites.

“Dr. Dog playing Philly Music Fest is a nine-year dream come true. Each year, Dr. Dog is my first email, my first call,” says Producer and Founder Greg Seltzer. “The band always seemed receptive, but was either touring, recording or taking a break. This year, the stars aligned and we are so fortunate to have Dr. Dog playing two incredibly special shows in support of Philly Music Fest.”

“Dr. Dog will be one of, if not the most popular, accomplished bands ever to grace the Ardmore Music Hall stage and we couldn't be more excited to host,” says Rising Sun Founder and Senior Talent Buyer, Chris Perella. “What a joy to partner with Philly Music Fest, to support their beautiful mission, and to get their help bringing what will be two absolutely unforgettable evenings to life"

Philly Music Fest returns for its ninth annual edition October 13 - 19, 2025, expanding from seven shows to nine shows. PMF is a citywide celebration of Philly musicians, exclusively located at independently owned venues and, most importantly, after paying the musicians and venues, donates profits to music education programs.

This year in addition to Dr. Dog, PMF performers include: The Wonder Years, Matt Quinn, Greg Mendez, Catie Turner, Horrendous, Nazir Ebo, Black Buttafly and more artists who consider Philly home. Independent venues include: Ardmore Music Hall, Underground Arts, MilkBoy, Johnny Brenda’s, Solar Myth, and The Fallser Club.

PMF is a non-profit organization founded by a local husband and wife team, Greg and Jenn Seltzer. Greg produces the festival, including booking, curation, and operations, while Jenn handles merchandise, hospitality and accounting. After a string of headliners that included Japanese Breakfast, Mt. Joy, Alex G, Amos Lee and Waxahatchee, PMF returns in 2025 with a stellar and genre-diverse lineup. PMF estimates an annual economic impact of $600,000 on the Philadelphia music economy, including an annual donation to music education of $100,000. Tickets are on sale now via PhillyMusicFest.com and individual venues.

PMF maintains a strict policy of no corporate advertising or banners. Seltzer insists, “The focus must be on the musicians and the mission. Corporate and donor support is essential, and frankly - the engine of the business model - but when people attend a PMF show, I want them to be present and focus entirely on the musicians.”

PMF also hosts Inside Hustle, a twice per year free music industry networking and information event, providing opportunity and access. The next Inside Hustle is October 18 at REC Philly.
