Singer, songwriter and playwright, Rachel Garlin's new single “Crossing Guard” and accompanying VIDEO are out this week. The prolific songsmith will bring her one-person show with backing ensemble, The Ballad of Madelyne & Therese, to San Francisco’s The Lost Church on March 23rd.

“Crossing Guard” is an upbeat Americana rocker featuring Garlin’s catchy and singable lyrics, a rhythm section made up of Jonny Flaugher and Griffin Goldsmith (from the Dawes) and tasty seasonsing from (real) horns and woodwinds throughout. "The winter was dark - lots of atmospheric storms of the literal and metaphorical variety. But every morning at sunrise, our crossing guard Jeff shows up on his bike and crosses people to safety. These first few months of the year are about celebrating simple delights and seeing possibility - the crossing guard, the lemon tree, every day people getting where they need to go. There's lots to sing about around here!"

Singer and songwriter Rachel Garlin has been hailed by critics, recently garnering praise from the San Francisco Chronicle, Americana Highways, and Country Queer. She’s also been embraced by radio, where she has received airplay on tastemaker shows including Folk Alley, Folk Music Notebook, and SiriusXM’s The Village.

“Rachel makes it look effortless with her accessible melodies, but dig deeper into her lyrics (like "crash course in chagrin") and you realize she's creating poetry in relatable human situations," raves, WFUV’s John Platt. As a touring headliner, Garlin has appeared on stages at the Newport Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass, Kerrville, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She’s a Harvard graduate, and lives in San Francisco with her wife and three kids.
