Rebekah Todd Shares Powerful Title Track From Upcoming Album Realign

After a cascading series of unfortunate events—including the loss of her parents, divorce, cancer, 2020’s lockdown, and an overall life upheaval—North Carolina singer and songwriter Rebekah Todd turned to psychedelic therapy to try and set herself back on track. It worked. After a three-year hiatus from her band and music career, Todd will be releasing her new LP, Realign, on September 30th, with a clear head and a focused sound.

Todd describes Realign as a conceptual piece, describing, through sound, her full circle return to being herself. As the album moves through each song, listeners will hear quiet simplicity with a tinge of sadness for the first several tracks until “Night Train,” which almost sounds as if the listener is hopping along for an unknown ride into an explosion of sound that leads into “Wrinkle,” her psychedelic awakening, and finally to the all-encompassing “Realign,” the album’s title track, with the relatable line “Maybe I can realign myself this time.”

Today, Todd shared the music video for “Realign,” a song she describes as “an anthem for anyone trying to make their way back to their true selves.” Visually, the video matches the dark tones of the recording, following Todd through a fever dream; bound, then buried, then born again. “We all go through difficult times in life. We face loss, addiction, heartache, this list goes on and on,” says Todd. “‘Realign’ is about starting over and rising from the ashes of it all with new power and force…to the point that our own friends may not even recognize us.”
