ARLINGTON, MA (April 2, 2026) – Arlington’s Regent Theatre celebrates an extraordinary milestone this month, marking 110 years as a cornerstone of arts and culture with a vibrant lineup of programming throughout April, culminating in a special Vaudevillian Variety Show on Friday, April 24.
Blending past and present, the Regent’s anniversary celebration reflects its long-standing tradition of eclectic, community-driven programming. This month’s schedule spans music, theater, film, family entertainment, and interactive experiences—highlighting the venue’s enduring role as a cultural hub for the greater Boston area.
The centerpiece event, the 110th Anniversary Vaudevillian Variety Show, channels the spirit of 1916-era entertainment with a modern twist. Hosted by circus comedian Colin Campbell, the evening promises a dynamic mix of talent including singer/songwriter and humorist Vance Gilbert, Alex the Jester, breakdancer Snap Boogie (America’s Got Talent), belly dancer Seyyide Sultan, Peter Mac as Judy Garland Live, and Little L, the “World’s Fastest Hula Hoop Performer.”
The celebration continues with a screening of the silent comedy classic Safety Last, accompanied live by acclaimed silent film accompanist Jeff Rapsis, offering a fitting nod to the theatre’s early cinematic roots.
Just over a year ago, Harvard computer science professor David J. Malan acquired the theatre, ushering in a new era of innovation. Since then, the venue has been upgraded for high-end videography, live streaming, and podcasting, expanding its reach beyond the physical space. Now operating as a public benefit company, the Regent’s mission is to create meaningful artistic, educational, and technological impact.
“Lights, camera, action,” said Malan. “The theatre now does it all.”
“Our April schedule truly exhibits the Regent’s eclectic, all-embracing programming in a nutshell,” added Leland Stein, Director of Programming and Community Relations. “And that unique variety continues into May, June and beyond.”
April programming highlights include:
April 18 – No Static Plays the Music of Steely Dan (50th anniversary of The Royal Scam)
April 22 – New England premiere of Spacewoman, with astronaut Eileen Collins in attendance for a live Q&A
