After a triumphant renaissance in 2024, Reggae On The River will once again transform County Line Ranch into a three-day celebration of roots culture, community, and world-class music from Friday, August 1, through Sunday, August 3, 2025. Framed by towering redwoods and the cool flow of the Eel River, the 36th annual edition promises an unrivaled festival experience that marries Jamaica’s timeless sound with Northern California’s wild beauty.
Across three stages, the 2025 roster reads like a who’s-who of contemporary reggae and dancehall. Jamaican hitmaker Busy Signal closes Sunday night in his first ROTR appearance since his show-stopping 2018 set, while Saturday belongs to Tarrus Riley & the Blak Soil Band, whose supple vocals and high-energy grooves embody modern roots reggae. Friday ignites with Italian-born dub maestro Alborosie & the Shengen Clan and dancehall sensation Charly Black.
Festivalgoers will also be treated to sets from Mr. Vegas, Julian “Juju” Marley & the Uprisings, Luciano, Yellowman, Queen Omega, Third World, Bugle, Pato Banton, Romain Virgo, Fantan Mojah, T.O.K., Christopher Ellis, Los Rakas, and dozens more, ensuring every hour rings with classic riddims, forward-leaning anthems, and deep cultural resonance.
“I’m coming to represent,” says Saturday headliner Tarrus Riley. “Expect high-energy reggae music rocking on the river.” Upon learning of ROTR’s storied past, Riley added: “WOW! Proof again of Jamaica’s amazing impact on world music and culture.”
Grammy-winning Julian Marley echoes that sentiment: “It’s always a pleasure to perform at Reggae On The River. Expect good vibrations and electrifying reggae music that complement the stunning surroundings of Humboldt County.”
Sunday closer Busy Signal—a.k.a. the Turf Boss—keeps it simple: “Reggae music and Reggae On The River—you have to be there. My band and I are ready to rock with you.”
True to its roots as a 1984 Mateel Community Center benefit, ROTR remains a gathering devoted to unity, cultural preservation, and local uplift. This year’s Jah Mall Marketplace hosts more than 50 craft and artisan vendors alongside an international food court. Kidlandia returns with puppet shows, games, and snacks for the youngest reggae fans (children 12 and under enter free). When the main stages wind down, legendary sound systems—including King Addies International (Brooklyn) and Jah Works (Osaka)—power the late-night dances, keeping the vibes rolling until the stars fade.
