Rising Appalachia Pen An Anthem Of Gratitude With “Thank You Very Much"

The latest standalone single from sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith—better known as world-folk troubadours Rising Appalachia—is all about gratitude. The song, “Thank You Very Much,” is an uplifting slow-burn, adding layers of the band’s world music leaning instrumentation one at a time until the final, swirling refrain. It’s simple. And lovely. And certainly meaningful to its intended recipients. “Thank You Very Much started as a totem to our family and to the blue-collar bedrock of our upbringing,” says Leah. “It moved into a wider place of gratitude…into a song that speaks as an anthem for us, to the so many radical and wild humans who have stepped in and helped make this music soar, and to the long road that we all walk together towards home. It is a testimony to the simple power of appreciation.”

Yesterday, PopMatters premiered “Thank You Very Much,” praising Rising Appalachia’s “healing melodies” and dubbing the tune “a meditation on the road traveled thus far.” Fans can join in on the wave of gratitude today by checking out “Thank You Very Much” right here. Rising Appalachia will be back on tour in October with a run through Tennessee and North Carolina. A list of tour dates can be found below or at risingappalachia.com/tour.

Since their release of Leylines in 2019, Rising Appalachia has released a number of standalone singles, remixes, and even a surprise LP, The Lost Mystique of Being in the Know, which Mike Davies of UK’s folk radio called "undoubtedly one of the most intoxicating musical experiences you’ll have this year."
