Robert Randolph Joins Brassroots District on a Trip Back to 1974

Just when the buzz couldn’t get any louder, Brassroots District is back with another deep cut from their forthcoming debut album – and an invitation to join the funk-fueled movement from the inside.

The new single, Takin’ Back Day Dreamin’ (ft. Robert Randolph), is a pedal-steel-laced slow burn that dares listeners to reclaim their wonder. It’s a dreamscape drenched in groove – and the latest sonic dispatch ahead of the band’s immersive album release residency, Brassroots District: LA ’74, launching February 7th at Jewel’s Catch One.

The release follows the runaway success of You Caught Me Baby,” a hypnotic ode to letting fantasy take the lead, where glances turn into connection and the rhythm writes the rules. Critics called it “slinky, seductive, and soaked in groove” – the kind of track that turns the dance floor into a moment.

Both songs appear on the band’s long-awaited debut album Brassroots District, due out January 29th on For the People Records, just days before opening night at Catch One.

Brassroots District: LA ’74 drops audiences into a real-time record release party, where the band is poised to sign a major label deal – if they can survive the night. With co-leads Ursa Major and Copper Jones navigating fame, friction, and a second shot at love, the immersive show invites fans into a world of music, mischief, and moments that could change everything.

With only eight nights on the books – Feb. 7th, 14th, 20th, 28th and March 7th, 14th, 20th, 28th – and two shows per night (early + late), the official waitlist has launched for early access to tickets ahead of the January 14th general on-sale.

The announcement builds on the momentum of recent single Aim High,” which sparked widespread praise from the underground press. V13 called it “a sonic meteor” and “less a band and more a full-fledged movement,” while Plastic Magazine noted that Brassroots District has become “the beating heart of a city in flux,” uniting “freaks, lovers, dreamers and suits… under the same disco ball.”

This is the moment the band’s fans have been waiting for – the album, the residency, and the chance to become part of the story.
