Oscar and Grammy Award-winning musician Ryan Bingham and celebrated band The Texas Gentlemen share a new live performance video for their acclaimed song, “Cocaine Charlie,” today; watch “Cocaine Charlie: Live From The Capitol Theatre” HERE.

Filmed during their June 5 performance at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, the video marks the first installment in their new “Live From The Capitol Theatre” series, with additional performances to follow.

The performance opens with “La Malagueña,” the first song Bingham learned on guitar as a teenager from a mariachi-playing neighbor, before moving into “Cocaine Charlie,” which is inspired by his experiences growing up along the Texas-Mexico border. Drawing on years of personal memories and stories from West Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, the song weaves a tale of love, betrayal and survival along the border.

A fan favorite, “Cocaine Charlie” has earned particular praise from critics since They Call Us The Lucky Ones’ release, with Forbes declaring that “no song may stand out quite like ‘Cocaine Charlie,’” while The Wall Street Journal calls it “a deadly serious and memorable ballad,” and Fort Worth Magazine praises “[a] striking example of Bingham’s ability to tell a story through song.”

The release comes as “Cocaine Charlie” is up for Grammy consideration for Best American Roots Song, alongside They Call Us The Lucky Ones for Best Americana Album, “The Lucky Ones” for Best Americana Performance and “Let The Big Dog Eat” for Best American Roots Performance.

The video offers a glimpse of the onstage collaboration between seasoned live performer Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen as they continue their currently extensive “Still Gettin’ Away With It Tour.” Upcoming stops include Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, Milwaukee’s Eagles Ballroom and St. Louis’ The Pageant, among others. The tour is sponsored by Tecovas, Bingham’s Bourbon, Turtlebox and Yeti. See below for complete tour itinerary.

Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen will also join Zach Bryan for a series of stadium shows next summer. Tickets will be available through Bingham’s artist pre-sale beginning next Thursday, October 22 at 10:00 a.m. local time, with general on-sale following on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. local time. The upcoming dates continue a breakout year for Bingham, whose acclaimed new album with The Texas Gentlemen, They Call Us The Lucky Ones (stream/purchase HERE), was released this past spring to overwhelming praise. His first full-length project in over seven years, the album further cements Bingham as one of the most authentic and compelling voices in American music. Across the album’s 10 tracks, Bingham reflects on the highs and lows of an artist’s life on the road and his newfound sense of joy and hope, all framed by the unique genre-defying sound he and The Texas Gentlemen create together.

In celebration of the new music, Bingham recently returned to PBS’ legendary Austin City Limits, appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, performed songs from the new album on Turtlebox’s “Box Sessions Presents: Ryan Bingham,” and spoke with Anthony Mason on CBS Saturday Morning.

Praise for They Call Us The Lucky Ones

“as complete a record as Bingham has ever recorded”—Rolling Stone

“It was worth the wait…a handful of must-hear stories sketched into Bingham’s growing songbook of cinematic tales”—Forbes

“This is one smart, encompassing album about the world this talented singer-songwriter inhabits…He has already won a lasting place in the line of such raspy-voiced singer-songwriters as Bob Dylan, John Prine, Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle”—The Wall Street Journal

“Splendidly rowdy Americana…a swaggering, wide-grinned celebration.”—UNCUT UK

“a noticeably freer and more organic approach that is wholly informed by the bravado of live improvisation…Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen effectively weave a tapestry that knits together a throughline between foundational Americana genres.”—People

“Ryan Bingham has come back to music in a big way.”—Texas Monthly

“an earthy and deeply human record. It moves between cinematic storytelling and barroom abandon with ease”—Entertainment Focus

“He’s a natural wordsmith, and such a craft allows him to spin a complex yarn in the simplest of ways”—Fort Worth Magazine

“They Call Us The Lucky Ones finds Bingham at his best, both lyrically and sonically, and that makes for the best album of the year so far”—Whiskey Riff

“a collaboration with The Texas Gentlemen that feels as much like a reclamation as it does a reflection…it serves as a reminder that the journey itself, with all its grit and grace, is where the real art lives”—Holler

“Country, blues, border ballads, rock-and-roll, corridos, Cajun rhythms, Tejano flourishes—it all drifts through the record like radio stations fading in and out on a midnight drive across state lines.”—Glide

“[Bingham] proves again why he’s one of country’s most raw and magnetic storytellers…it’s Ryan Bingham at his unfiltered, unpolished best: a storyteller, a rebel, and a musician who reminds us that country music still has room for risk, honesty, and fire.”—All Country News

In addition to Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen—Ryan Ake (guitars), Daniel Creamer (piano, organ), Paul Grass (drums, percussion) and Scott Lee (bass)—the record also features Richard Bowden (fiddle, mandolin) and Cody Huggins (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel).

Bingham is a Grammy, Oscar, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award-winning singer-songwriter and actor whose raw, world-weary voice and evocative storytelling have made him one of the most distinctive artists of his generation. From his early years as a drifter and bull rider to penning “The Weary Kind” for the film Crazy Heart, Bingham has built a career defined by authenticity and artistic independence. His music—spanning folk, blues, country, and rock—reflects a life fully lived, blending grit, vulnerability, and resilience in equal measure.

Across seven studio albums, two live records, and his 2023 self-produced EP Watch Out For The Wolf, Bingham has remained committed to unfiltered, genre-defying storytelling, captured in his live album Live at Red Rocks. In addition to his acclaimed music career, he starred as fan-favorite “Walker” on Paramount’s record-breaking series Yellowstone and recently led the Jeff Nichols-directed (Mud, Loving, Midnight Special) short film, Love Letter to Texas, which debuted at SXSW earlier this year. Featuring Bingham alongside Michael Shannon and Hassie Harrison, with narration from Sissy Spacek, Love Letter to Texas serves as a tribute to the legacy of iconic Texas films and the storytellers behind them. Beyond the stage and screen, Bingham has launched his own record label, founded the Fort Worth-based festival and rodeo, The Great Western, and introduced Bingham Spirits, beginning with Bingham’s Bourbon in 2024.
