Season 2 of the acclaimed musical variety show The Energy Curfew Music Hour is out now, hosted by Grammy Award-winning mandolinist Chris Thile and his genre-defying string ensemble Punch Brothers. Season Two features unexpected, one-night-only collaborations with a powerhouse lineup including Shawn Mendes, Jacob Collier, Sara Bareilles, Billy Strings, Meshell Ndegeocello, Andrew Bird, and more.

Recorded live at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in New York, the fictional world of The Energy Curfew Music Hour imagines a near future where dwindling resources lead to a weekly, 24-hour national power shutdown — an “energy curfew.” The show airs just before the lights go out, as the country tunes in and turns off together before each Dark Day.
Season 1 featured Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Jon Batiste, Norah Jones, James Taylor, and more. It was nominated for a Webby Award in Podcast – Features, Experimental & Innovation and was a finalist for the Listener’s Choice Award at the 2025 Signal Awards.

Chris Thile is a Grammy-winning mandolinist, singer, songwriter, and MacArthur “Genius Grant” honoree. A founding member of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, Thile has collaborated with artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Fiona Apple, and Brad Mehldau. He previously hosted the beloved public radio show Live from Here and continues to expand the boundaries of modern acoustic music through innovative composition and performance.
Punch Brothers — Chris Thile (mandolin), Chris Eldridge (guitar), Paul Kowert (bass), Noam Pikelny (banjo), and Brittany Haas (violin) — have been redefining the possibilities of string band music since 2006. Their 2018 release All Ashore won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album, and they continue to push acoustic music into bold new spaces with virtuosic energy and creativity.
Actor, writer, director, and producer Claire Coffee co-created the series with Thile. Her work spans television, film, radio, and theatre, including starring roles in Grimm and The West Wing, direction for Live From Here, and creative leadership on Thile’s symphonic narrative performance ATTENTION!
