NYC-born Shakedown Citi, a rising presence in the national Grateful Dead scene, takes over Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday, October 28, for Dead Bowl, a one-night event kicking off Halloween weekend.
For New Yorkers looking to start Halloweekend early, Dead Bowl offers a different kind of night out: part concert, part visual experience and a full-scale trip through the music of the Dead. Themed vendors and unexpected twists and turns will extend the experience beyond the stage, giving audiences plenty to discover throughout the night.
Inspired by the freewheeling spirit of the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Tests—legendary 1960s counterculture gatherings—the night pairs Shakedown Citi’s improvisational approach to the Grateful Dead catalog with a live psychedelic light show from NYC visual artist Steve Pavlovsky of Liquid Light Lab, whose work has accompanied artists including Phil Lesh & Friends, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Oteil Burbridge and Nick Mason.
Together, they’ll transform Brooklyn Bowl into a constantly shifting environment of music, light and experimentation.
Drop in, tune out and be ready to be surprised.
