Moving indoors and taking over the Convention Space/Ballroom last week proved to be a big hit with attendees and vendors alike. Using the entire main ballroom and some space in the entryway to create a “Shakedown” atmosphere, similar to the outside version in previous weeks, was a huge success. Featuring over 80 vendors from all over the country, the organizers are now having to turn away new vendor applicants.
After two weeks outdoors, Shakedown Vegas took the party inside to beat the heat. Attendance is growing from week to week as word of mouth and promotions gain traction. Dead & Company’s own Oteil Burbridge made a stop for some shopping and greetings! Mountain Girl and Trixie Garcia, along with Chloe Weir, also made appearances. When the event was outdoors, Bravo TV show host Andy Cohen was seen on the second weekend and even gave a shout-out on his radio program the following week.
Tuscany Suites & Casino and Shakedown Vegas have been collaborating on a Free After Sphere Concert Series, with overwhelming response! Featuring local acts like Mojave Blue, Brown Chicken Brown Cow & Thee Mess Arounds, along with out-of-state artists like The Pits Players & DJ Logic. After Sphere concert fans have been treated to free music in the Copa Room until 2 am and beyond. And the lineup only gets better!
Thursday, June 6th: Pits Players return with special guest vocalist Sean Steele of Indiana.
Friday, June 7th: Jimmy Carpenter will perform his tribute to the Jerry Garcia Band; Jimmy Does Jerry. Jimmy performed this production for Shakedown Vegas outside on the main stage on the second weekend to a gracious and impressed crowd. Jimmy also sat in with Thee Mess Arounds during their Shakedown After Dark appearance last Saturday.
Saturday, June 8th: Catfish John makes their first appearance of the series, easily referred to as the most popular Grateful Dead cover band Vegas has to offer. Saturday night should be epic!

Also, from June 11-13 and for at least three more weekends afterward, an Exhibition Series with live music photographer Joshua Hitchens begins. Joshua has promised some surprises and notable guests to be announced soon. Joshua has photographed many great bands and has been working with Dead & Company for years. Updates are coming soon!
