Spafford, the dynamic jam band renowned for their musical prowess, launched their highly-anticipated 2023 Fall Tour this weekend with a captivating pair of performances at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, Colorado. The tour opener featured the Southwestern debut of their latest original composition, "Motel 6," a song that traces its roots back to the early days when the band traversed the Southwest, from the deserts of Arizona to the scenic landscapes of Colorado.
Originally conceived as an acapella piece during the band’s early travels through the Southwest, "Motel 6" has since evolved into a multifaceted composition crafted by the band's guitarist and vocalist, Brian Moss. The song boasts a catchy bluegrass-inspired melody and poignant lyrics in its opening segment. The debut of this remarkable original took place during Spafford's Summer Tour at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts, on July 14, as part of their 3-night run.
The second night at Cervantes’ was equally memorable, featuring Spafford's recently revealed rendition of "Punk," a classic Trance track by Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten. In an audacious move, Spafford ventured into the realm of Dutch Trance from 2002, breathing new life into this iconic hit.
In addition to their tour, Spafford is thrilled to announce that they are once again continuing to stream as many of their shows as possible for free on YouTube. The weekend's highlights included fan-favorite tracks such as "Backdoor Funk" and the enthralling mash-up of "Hollywood" and "Walls."
