Z2 Entertainment is thrilled to announce a night of boundary-pushing, instrumental exploration as Circles Around The Sun (CATS) brings its celebrated cosmic-disco sound to the Fox Theatre on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Powered by the bold taste of Schilling Hard Cider, the evening will feature an exclusive collaborative set with genre-defying harpist-singer Mikaela Davis, promising a once-in-a-lifetime musical journey for Colorado’s jam-friendly faithful.
Born from Peter Shapiro’s vision of commissioning original set-break music for the Grateful Dead’s 50th-anniversary “Fare Thee Well” concerts, Circles Around The Sun quickly evolved from an inspired studio experiment into one of the most adventurous live bands on today’s scene. Over nearly a decade, the group has rewritten the rules of instrumental rock, weaving psychedelic jazz-funk, post-rock ambience, and dance-floor propulsion into fluid, ever-changing compositions that feel both familiar and futuristic. Their collaborative spirit has led to studio and stage pairings with innovators such as Joe Russo, Billy Strings, and now Mikaela Davis, whose luminous harp textures and soulful vocals will add fresh celestial hues to CATS’ kaleidoscopic soundscapes.
Fans can expect two sprawling sets packed with unreleased grooves, reimagined favorites, and improvisational detours that shift from blissed-out space-funk to heady psych-jazz in the turn of a phrase—a trademark CATS experience that never plays the same way twice. Between Davis’ shimmering harp motifs and the band’s deep pocket, the Fox is set to transform into an interstellar dance hall, where cosmic exploration meets communal celebration.
