Sweetwater Music Hall Announces Grateful Dead Tributes, Roots Music and Summer Concerts

Sweetwater Music Hall has announced a wide-ranging summer schedule led by several shows tied closely to the Grateful Dead community, along with bluegrass, Americana, reggae, folk, rock and free local events.

The Dead-related run begins Saturday, June 20, with The Anton Collection. Led by longtime ZERO drummer Greg Anton, the septet will perform songs Anton co-wrote with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The group also features Angeline Saris, Mingo Lewis Jr., Stefanie Coyote, Jay Wilcox, Jake Temple and Fletcher Neilson.

On Sunday, June 21, The Rock and Roll Playhouse will present the Music of Grateful Dead for Kids as part of a Father’s Day weekend celebration. The family-friendly morning show will be followed later that day by a free Josh Zee and Friends residency performance.

Another major Dead-related event arrives Thursday, June 25, when Music Heals International and Grateful Guitars present Ten Years After — The Songs Continue. The concert celebrates the songbook of Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman, performed on their original instruments, with special guests Jackie Greene and Jay Lane. Proceeds will benefit Music Heals International and Grateful Guitars.

The schedule also includes reggae veterans Israel Vibration and Roots Radics, Marin Bluegrass Sessions, Margo Price, Dan Tyminski Band, Teddy Thompson, Lizzie No and several tribute shows. Sweetwater will continue offering free open mics, Sunday residencies and community events throughout the summer.
