Sweetwater Music Hall Highlights Dead Family, Psychedelic and Roots Shows Through September

Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley has another packed stretch of shows on the calendar, with several dates likely to stand out for Grateful Dead fans, psychedelic music lovers and roots-music regulars.

Among the biggest highlights are two nights with Duane Betts and Palmetto Motel on August 28 and 29, a Moonalice Sunday matinee on September 6, and a September 10 benefit featuring David Nelson Band & Friends with Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band. The latter will benefit the After School Bluegrass Club Program and is presented by the California Bluegrass Association and Help’s On the Way.

David Nelson, of course, has deep ties to the Bay Area’s psychedelic and Grateful Dead orbit, making the September 10 show one of the strongest draws on the upcoming calendar for Deadheads. Moonalice should also appeal to that same crowd, with its long-running blend of rock, psychedelic soul and San Francisco musical tradition.

Fans looking for more classic-rock and psychedelic sounds can also catch Pete Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute, on September 25, while Southern rock is well represented by the two Duane Betts dates. Bluegrass and Americana also remain a major part of the schedule, including the Marin Bluegrass Sessions, Dore Coller’s Bermudagrass anniversary and album release party, Willy Braun and San Miguel Fraser.

Sweetwater Music Hall is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization and intimate live music venue located at 19 Corte Madera Avenue in Mill Valley, California. Established in 1972, the venue presents music across a wide range of genres and continues to support community programming and access to the arts.
