As The Head and The Heart toured behind their 2022 album, Every Shade of Blue, co-founder Jonathan Russell realized the band needed a creative reset. The result is Aperture—their sixth studio album and first since signing to Verve Forecast. For the first time in years, the six members fully embraced collaboration, recording in Seattle and Richmond and self-producing an album that reflects newfound synergy, emotional depth, and collective renewal.

Breaking away from past formulas, the band traded rigid songwriting roles for shared inspiration. Members who had never written or sung before took the leap. The process sparked a wave of creativity—songs born from jam sessions, late-night hangs, and mutual trust. Tracks like “Cop Car,” “After the Setting Sun,” “Pool Break,” and “Arrow” pulse with rediscovered energy, balancing introspection and unbridled joy. Themes of connection, perseverance, and rediscovery flow throughout the record, as if the band itself is reborn through its music.

Aperture captures The Head and The Heart in their purest form: a band embracing growth, gratitude, and the communal spirit that first drew fans to their sound. From the sunlit exuberance of “Jubilee” to the tender resilience of “Finally Free,” each song invites listeners to rediscover hope amid uncertainty—an apt reflection of the band’s renewed unity.

The Head and The Heart have long been favorites among indie and folk-rock audiences, thanks to their sweeping harmonies, heartfelt lyricism, and electrifying live performances. Their Red Rocks homecoming promises two nights of connection, celebration, and cathartic music-making from one of the most beloved bands of the last decade.
