Reggae Town Music presents legendary reggae artists from Jamaica, The Itals, on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Ashkenaz in Berkeley, California. The evening will also feature Donny Rasta & JAHBUDDA!, Bobby Tenna and Anthony Garvey backed by The Legacy Band, DJ Sep, and Emcee Elijah of Nice Up Radio.
Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Ashkenaz is located at 1317 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley, CA 94702. Tickets are $25 advance, including fees, $30 at the door, and $20 for students with ID at the door only. The event is all ages and wheelchair-accessible.
The Itals are a legendary Jamaican reggae vocal group, formed in 1976 by Alvin “Keith” Porter, Lloyd Ricketts, and Ronnie Davis, all of whom had previously also recorded as solo artists. All three had worked together in the late 1960s in The Westmorelites. The group recorded several albums through the late 1970s and 1980s, with Ronnie Davis going on to a successful solo career in 1997 as Ronnie Davis and Idren.
The Itals’ debut single, “In A Dis Ya Time,” is regarded as the group’s finest work and topped the Jamaican chart. 1987’s Rasta Philosophy was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Reggae Album. The lineup has changed over the years, with former solo artist David Isaacs joining in 1987 when Ricketts was sentenced to a prison term, preventing him from traveling to the United States. Davis left the group in 1994 and was replaced by Porter’s daughter Kada. Today the band tours as Isaacs, and Keith and Kada Porter.

The multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer Bobby Tenna has been working and building his music career since he was a youth, when he started singing as a member of his church choir. Born in Orange District, St. James, Jamaica, music was always a part of Bobby’s life. Later, he would hone his skills as an artist performing on the cabaret circuit on the north coast of Jamaica, where he became a staple performer. Bobby has worked with an impressive list of artists and producers, including the late Smiley Minott, Sugar Minott, Kemar Flavor McGregor, Junior Fraser, Mighty Mike, DeMarco, Dr. Marshall and Barry O’Hare, Fantan Mojah, and Capleton.

DJ Sep is a San Francisco Bay Area DJ / producer and founder of Dub Mission, one of the longest-running reggae clubs in the world from 1996-2019. She spins dub, reggae, dancehall, Jungle, DnB, and Afrobeats. Sep has spun at festivals, clubs, museums, and community events in Spain, the U.K., Canada, Mexico, many cities in the U.S., and most venues in the greater Bay Area.
