VAIL, Colo. — September 9, 2026 — The Town of Vail and Vail Recreation District have announced that acclaimed Americana and roots music favorites Trampled by Turtles and Old Crow Medicine Show, with special guest Lindsay Lou Trio, will perform Saturday, November 28, at Dobson Arena. The concert will serve as the marquee musical celebration of the arena’s reopening following its more than $55 million transformation into a premier sports and entertainment venue.
The all-ages event marks the first major concert at the newly renovated facility and represents a milestone in the community’s effort to reimagine Dobson Arena while preserving its legacy as one of Vail’s most beloved gathering places.
“Reopening Dobson Arena is a milestone moment for Vail,” said Mayor Barry Davis. “We really wanted to host a concert that gives our community an opportunity to celebrate this incredible facility and everything it represents for the future. We can’t wait to bring everyone together on November 28 for a memorable evening of music and community.”

Trampled by Turtles emerged from Duluth, Minnesota, in 2003, blending bluegrass instrumentation with the energy and spirit of rock and roll to create a sound all their own. The band has topped Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart with every studio release and built a devoted following through performances at major festivals including Coachella, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza, as well as tours alongside artists such as Zach Bryan, Willie Nelson, Wilco, Lord Huron and The Avett Brothers. Their most recent album, Alpenglow, was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, and the band continues to expand its reach through new collaborations and genre-defying performances.
Old Crow Medicine Show has spent nearly three decades helping define modern American roots music, blending old-time string band traditions with a contemporary sound that has earned two GRAMMY Awards, membership in the Grand Ole Opry and a devoted following around the world. Best known for the multi-platinum hit “Wagon Wheel,” the band has become one of the most influential acts in Americana music, delivering energetic live performances while carrying forward the traditions of folk, bluegrass and country music for new generations of fans.
The concert highlights the completion of a transformational renovation project that began in April 2025. The approximately $55.4 million redevelopment includes new south and west entrances, expanded seating, a wraparound concourse and mezzanine level, additional concessions and restrooms, upgraded locker rooms, and new concert rigging infrastructure that will enhance the venue’s ability to host world-class entertainment and community events.
The improvements increase spectator capacity to approximately 1,500 for hockey games and up to 3,500 for concerts and special events, establishing Dobson as a year-round destination for recreation, sports and live entertainment, as well as a space for meetings and conferences. The project also introduces a new brand identity that honors the arena’s history while reflecting its expanded future as a multipurpose venue.
The reopening festivities begin earlier in November when the Vail Sportsmanship Hockey Tournament returns November 6–8, followed by a Vail Yeti home game on November 7 and the resumption of regular programming throughout the month. The November 28 concert will serve as the venue’s first major musical performance, followed by a free community celebration featuring an open house and public skating on November 29.
