Fifty years into one of the most respected songwriting careers in American music, Vince Gill continues to look inward, backward, and deeply human. His year-long creative project 50 Years From Home (MCA) moves forward with its third EP, Brown’s Diner Bar, arriving Friday, December 9.
The release follows the first two installments in this ambitious series—I Gave You Everything I Had (October 17, 2025) and Secondhand Smoke (November 14, 2025)—each chapter revealing a more reflective, lived-in side of Gill’s songwriting voice.
“As a songwriter, you have to live some life to understand what you’re writing about,” Gill shares. “You need a few years under your belt to look back and really remember things. I know I don’t have as much time ahead of me as I’ve already lived, so everything matters more now. There’s a deeper connection to these lyrics than I ever expected—they’re truthful, they’re real, and they’re about things people can recognize and relate to.”
Penned by Gill, the title track “Brown’s Diner Bar” reaches all the way back to his earliest days in Nashville, recalling his first visit to the now-legendary eatery nearly 50 years ago. “It’s a singer-songwriter kind of folk song about…this little hamburger joint,” Gill explains. “It’s been in Nashville for 100 years now, and I’ve been going for 50. When I made my first trip to Nashville in the mid-’70s, I remember going to Brown’s for a cheeseburger—they’re famous for being really good cheeseburgers.”
Located just off Music Row, Brown’s Diner Bar has long been a gathering place for songwriters and musicians, and Gill captures that worn-in charm with warmth and intimacy. The track features Gill’s smooth electric guitar work, understated yet expressive, perfectly matching the song’s nostalgic spirit.
Brown’s Diner Bar arrives on the heels of Gill receiving the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by George Strait on November 19 during the CMA Awards broadcast on ABC. While the honor reflects a remarkable legacy, the six new songs on this EP make it clear that Gill’s creative momentum remains fully alive.
Special guests and co-writers on the collection include ERNEST, Jake Worthington, Leslie Satcher, Wade Bowen, and Waylon Payne, each contributing to a body of work that feels both personal and universally resonant.
Fans can also explore a sneak preview of Episode 3 of 50 Years From Home, featuring Vince Gill alongside Charlie Worsham, offering additional insight into the stories behind the songs.
