Every Wednesday night in San Francisco’s Sunset District, DJ Sep turns The Riptide into a beachside sound system session—dub, reggae, and dancehall on the speakers, surf movies on the big screen, and a room full of people moving like the tide.
Dub, reggae and dancehall at The Riptide with DJ Sep: groove to the tunes while watching surf movies on the big screen. It’s a simple, perfect weekly ritual—music, motion, and that salty-Sunset energy you can feel as soon as you step inside.
Wet Wednesdays run from 8 pm ‘till midnight, are 21+, and there’s no cover—a free party for anyone who wants to lean into the bass and let the screen glow do the rest.
DJ Sep is a long-time Bay Area DJ and producer, and the founder of Dub Mission, one of the longest-running reggae clubs in the world (1996–2019). She spins dub, reggae, dancehall, Jungle/DnB, Afrobeats, and more, and has played festivals and clubs in Spain, the U.K., Canada, Mexico, many cities in the U.S., and throughout the greater Bay Area.
Over the years, Sep has presented and opened for an extensive list of reggae and electronic artists, including Lee Perry, The Scientist, Mad Professor, Sister Nancy, Luciano, Toots and The Maytals, Mykal Rose, The Wailers, Quantic, Akae Beka (aka Midnite), and many others. Learn more at djsep.com.
And the room couldn’t be a better fit. The Riptide is the Bay Area’s best little honky-tonk by the beach. Located in the Sunset District, it was built in 1941 and has the look and feel of a small-town lodge—rustic brick flooring, high ceilings, original knotty pine walls, and a raging fireplace that adds warmth you can feel as soon as you step inside.
