Ameri-Cali Soul collective Wreckless Strangers continue their releases with “The Runaround,” a fiery, emotionally charged new single arriving on February 27. The track serves as the latest preview of the band’s upcoming album, Dirty Souls, set for digital release on March 27, 2026.
Originally written more than two decades ago by lead singer David Noble, “The Runaround” is both a personal reckoning and a timeless anthem for anyone who has ever felt stuck in their own cycle of frustration.
“I wrote this song about 20 years ago when it seemed like nothing was going my way,” Noble shares. “I felt that every move I made was in the wrong direction. In essence, I was giving myself The Runaround.”
That catharsis pulses through the track’s punchy frustration and driving attitude. Noble’s lyrics capture the emotional tug-of-war at the heart of the song:
I grow tired of your ways; you got your sticky little fingers in everything, but then why do I stay. You’re tradin’ one thing for another, one thing for another.
Produced by four-time GRAMMY®-winning engineer Dave Way (Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow, and Foo Fighters) and mixed by Sean Beresford (THIRD EYE BLIND, Chuck Prophet, Jeff Bridges, and Vanessa Carlton), “The Runaround” balances raw honesty with refined production. A music video directed by Dylan Cortez-Modell will soon accompany the single, bringing the song’s restless energy and tension to life.
With Dirty Souls, Wreckless Strangers continue to lean into fearless songwriting, lived-in storytelling, and the kind of collaborative musicianship that has defined their evolution. “The Runaround” stands as both a reflection on the past and a declaration of forward motion — proof that sometimes the long road back is the one that shapes you most.

Wreckless Strangers is a collective of friends and musicians carrying the torch for San Francisco’s grand rock ‘n’ roll tradition. Their unique blend of “Ameri-Cali Soul” melds the contemporary blues stylings of Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs; the songwriting sensibilities of Sons of Champlin and Fleetwood Mac; the swashbuckling Americana of the Lost Planet Airmen and Peter Rowan; and the funk of Sly Stone and Tower of Power with a dash of Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane for flavor and unpredictability. With soaring vocal harmonies and burning instrumental improvisation framed in concise and poignant original songwriting, Wreckless Strangers seek to honor and carry forth the brand of free-spirited musical fun and adventure that defines the Bay Area.
