Toronto-based psychedelic rock and roll band Zuffalo will release their new single “Digging a Hole” on April 21, 2026, a groovy preview of their third full-length album Flock of the Town (out May 29, 2026).
Recorded live off the floor in New Hamburg, Ontario, “Digging a Hole” captures Zuffalo’s unique fusion of retro rock, funky rhythms, and psychedelic spontaneity. Built from a simple demo groove, the track evolved in-studio through live jamming, with the band shaping the arrangement together and locking into a tight pocket.
At just over three minutes, “Digging a Hole” invites the listener into the cozy converted barn studio where the tube amps are warm, the organ whirrs, and the groove is tight. The groovy vamp sections feel almost like walking in on a session at Daptone Records, while the catchy riffs and the close-knit harmonies led by husband-and-wife Michael Vukovich and Kim Manning are classic Zuffalo. If you’re looking for the psychedelia, you’ll find it in the mellotron strings singing over a groovy interlude, as well as in the fantastical lyrics, which paint a journey that is both inward and other-worldly.
Known for their energetic and improvisational live shows, Zuffalo has toured extensively across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, building a dedicated following along the way. Their upcoming album features road-tested material alongside new compositions developed in the studio.
Zuffalo will celebrate the album’s release with a hometown show on June 5, 2026 at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern, an exciting moment for the band as they prepare for further touring.
“Digging a Hole” will be available on all streaming platforms April 21.
ABOUT THE BAND:
Zuffalo is an internationally touring psychedelic rock and roll band. Thick three-part vocal harmony is laced with funky bass, joyfully explosive drumming, and inspired keys and guitar playing that weave around each other like two painters sharing one canvas. Hailing from Toronto, traveling all across their homeland Canada, pulsating the dance floors across Europe and the United States, it is no doubt that Zuffalo has become one of the world’s most entertaining, must-see live shows. The four-piece funky powerhouse formed in 2016 and has released two full-length studio albums (Zuffalo, 2018 & BIRDBRAIN, 2021), and one EP (Space, 2019). Zuffalo has toured over 8 countries in North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom including performances at the legendary Glastonbury Festival in 2023. In the summer of 2024 the band embarked on their first tour in the United States, including a stop at Back Home Festival in West Virginia to play alongside the Wailers, Keller Williams, Sierra Hull, and Big Brother & the Holding Company.
