The former Beatle brought the latest incarnation of his All-Starr band to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles for the final date of his 2019 tour. The hydra of entertainment and stimulation that is Outside Lands will always find a way to entertain all who visit. From music to food, to comedy, to Cannabis, and more, there is something for everyone who comes to this festival. Early on Saturday, we stopped by the Barbary tent to see the standup bill that had been put together. Comedian Jimmy O. Yang, known for his roles on “Silicon Valley” and “Crazy Rich Asians” headlined an afternoon of comedy that was defined by equal parts observational and racial humor.

Outside Lands 2019 came and went, and the 12th year of the festival brought with it a wide array of emotions for all to step through the gates. This year’s Outside Lands featured their most polarizing line up to date. The general feel around the Bay Area in the months leading up to the festival was you either thought this was the strongest year yet, or adamantly detested everything it stood for, there was no in between.
Activate Infinity is the second album from The Bad Plus since the remarkable pianist Orrin Evans joined the group in 2018. The album was recorded at Brooklyn Recording in New York City in May 2019. It was produced by The Bad Plus and engineered and mixed by Andy Taub. Activate Infinity will be released on CD and digital October 25. November 15 will see its release on vinyl.

Few iconic bands who have been a group for fifty years truly play with the vigor and focus of their heyday. Not that there’s anything erroneous regarding nostalgia, but for the seminal group King Crimson there’s historically been little looking back. Denying the moniker of progressive rock (reasonably so, as they predate the subgenre) the group’s core founding member Robert Fripp (guitars, keyboards, mellotron) generally led a charge towards new material every tour and an evolving methodology on arrangements.
Keller Williams has announced the release of his 25th studio album, SPEED, which is due out on November 22nd. The new record features Williams with his Bluegrass outfit, Keller & The Keels, as they reinterpret popular songs by celebrated artists including The Doors, Kacey Musgraves, Fiona Apple, Weezer and more.

Gangstagrass has been cooking up the heat to stun their fans once again by releasing their 5th album and first live recording, “Pocket Full of Fire” which came out earlier this year. The response thus far has been incredible including Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums Chart Debut at #8.
