Today, Dark Star Orchestra announces the first round of artists to perform at The Dark Star Jubilee – a multi-day, multi-stage music festival happening August 31 – September 2 at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio.
This past Monday evening the band was named a winner of The Break Invitational (a showcase of N.J.'s top-unsigned acts sponsored and judged by The Bamboozle Festival team) and was awarded a slot on the Bamboozle festival's lineup (set date/time/location TBD).

The Expendables, California's highly respected rock-surf band, is set to release their first full-length acoustic studio album, Gone Soft on May 15th, 2012. Gone Soft will allow fans to experience the stripped down and unplugged version of The Expendables. The album successfully displays the band's technical music skills, taking their powerhouse rock songs and re-arranging them to highlight a softer side of fan-favorite classic songs.

I arrived before the doors opened. Just from the line forming outside the theater, I could tell that Band of Skulls had an enthusiastic following. The excitement was palpable. After the recent release of their new album, Sweet Sour, the band geared up for an international tour. The group, hailing from England, obviously had quite the draw in America.
The Travelin McCourys are the latest incarnation of the most awarded band in the history of bluegrass – The Del McCoury Band. Keller Williams is known as one of the most innovative solo singer/songwriters of this generation. What happens when the two join forces? The live stage may never be the same. This morning I received my hot off the presses CD/DVD combo, Rubblebucket Live in Chicago. I ripped off the plastic wrap to pop it in the player and pour over every detail of the jacket, the artwork, and the credits. It looks like the antithesis to the no wave buzz back in the late 70’s. The packaging is similar to a Ramones promo circa 1979. The lettering has color but the photograph is in black and white with a nice contrast.
