As everyone knows, the entertainment industry is littered with stories of excess and debauchery, and these tales extend from those with superstar status to the grassroots level. From the destruction of hotel rooms to limos outfitted with hot tubs to band members each traveling in their separate tour buses, we have all heard about the resulting effects of the vacuum of stardom. In the wash of these urban legends and anecdotes, it is often the altruistic ventures of our musical heroes that go overlooked, and it is of no surprise as we live in the age of sensationalism and shock journalism.

Grand Point North, the music festival presented by Grace Potter and Higher Ground at Burlington’s Waterfront Park on September 14th and 15th, released set times for the festival today. In addition, Potter and Higher Ground announced the return of the visual arts installation Grand Point Weird, Grand Point Local featuring local restaurants and food, and the REVERB Eco Village supporting several Vermont nonprofits. 

Greensky Bluegrass returns to the Riverside Theater for a special three-night run to ring in the new year!  Joined by very special guests and bluegrass mavericks Horseshoes & Hand Grenades on December 29 and 30, Greensky Bluegrass will take the stage as a solo headliner for an epic New Year’s Eve show that will feature a 3 set performance and balloon drop at midnight.

Neal Casal, the fifty-year-old guitarist and songwriter, played his final act Saturday evening at the Lockn' Festival in Arrington, Virginia. Judging from the smiles of all those surrounding him onstage, nobody saw it coming.

Breckenridge Brewery is ready for another great Hootenanny on Saturday, October 5th. The annual celebration includes an amazing lineup from The Disco Biscuits and Mandolin Orange, to local bands like The Jauntee. This year’s event celebrates the brewery’s 29th anniversary since its humble beginnings in the mountain town for which it’s named. The party is from 12:30 – 7:00 pm, rain or shine with tickets going on sale Tuesday, August 27th at 10:00 am MT.
