There are three topics we will inevitably bring up in every review of Outside Lands. The quality of the music, the cultural significance of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco’s art history, and how in one way or another, the fog always finds a way to impact the ambiance of the festival. Perseverance is now and forever the heart of the narrative on Milwaukee-based folk-rock duo Listening Party. To get to where they are today, the pair of Jacob Wood and Weston Mueller faced down a pandemic, lost a band member, and heavily debated whether they’d continue to pursue a career in music altogether. Spoiler alert: they never gave up, and their latest output shines so much brighter because of that.
